Reviewer's "Must Read"

You wonder, as a writer, whether potential readers actually read book reviews, or just pick up books, (not necessarily yours) whether from independent bookstores (God Bless ‘em!), Amazon, online publishers like us or just cadge ‘em off the library biannnual book sale (what? You don’t have that in your town?!) or from friends or whether they actually read reviews and go out and buy the book the reviewer recommended. (I know, this sentence was almost interminable, so I thought I’d better circle back to where I’d started). I tend to do all of the above, but when it’s your book, and the reviewer was so enthusiastic ( and used words like ‘orthographic’ and ‘quotidian’ — be still my heart) that it made my heart leap. In a good way.
