Good Old Boat Mag Writers Win Multiple Awards
Why am I posting this? Because, award-winning writer and author of Still Water Bending (a lyrical Chesapeake novel that also has a great sex scene, something Wendy is embarrassed about every time I mention it at book festivals) is the Senior Editor of Good Old Boar magazine, which has just won a bunch of awards from Boating Writers International. Did she win an award this time around? No. So why am I posting this? Because, most people don’t know how carefully some editors (like Wendy) help to hone other writers’ stories without messing with a writer’s voice. It takes an ear for both language, something not every editor has, and an understanding that the story’s byline also means that everything the is in the story is attributed to the writer. It’s a behind-the-scenes boost that, when done well, is invisible, but critical. And Wendy does it really well. So, congratulations, Wendy Mitman Clarke on the success of your wonderful stable of writers and the articles you’ve helped to hone.
