I love it when a plan comes together — or even when a plan looks like it might be taking shape. Or at the very least, when more and more people seem to agree we need a plan, or plans. Most of the challenges we face require more than one solution, but at least there seems to be a rising tide of voices looking at sea level rise and its impact on land, economy and communities. Pete Fortenbaugh’s book, The Monday After Father’s Day: Revelations, A Parable, sees it through the eyes of an eight-year-old on an island very like Tangier. Chesapeake photographer, Jay Fleming, sees it through the lens of his camera and the connections he makes as he works, evident in his beautiful new book, Island Life (Jay Fleming Photography). And scientist Michael O. Snyder views it through multiple lenses — scientific training, camera, and human connection. Are we collectively reaching enough of a tipping point that we will implement solutions?
